Coping with Breakup

Are you having difficulties dealing with a break up? Are you finding it hard to stop thinking about your partner? Is moving on something you are not sure you want to do but know you should do? Are you preoccupied with thoughts of your partner? Do you find yourself stalking them on Facebook, Instagram just not able to get over them?

Learning how to get over a partner can be a difficult obstacle that people may not know how to face. Symptoms of difficulties of breaking up include:

  • obsessing over the person,
  • going over what you could have said or done differently,
  • stalking them on social media,
  • going past where they live,
  • stalking new partners that they are dating,
  • visiting places that they’re frequent,
  • imagining what you could have done.

If you are facing some of these signs, this can be an indication that you’re having a hard time moving on. Oftentimes people haven’t made the decision to break up emotionally from their relationship. Emotionally they are still deeply connected to the person and not ready to move on.

What are the reasons for this type of behaviors? Sometimes the person has deep-seated loneliness. Other times it can be related to the things that are a bit more complicated and related to early childhood trauma or past issues that the person needs to move on.

Regardless of the reason, it is an extremely painful place to be stuck in a relationship that has ended but emotionally you are still connected to.
