First Time to Counselling: How to get the most out of your Session

Saving Your Marriage- Even if your Spouse doesn’t want to come

Are you concerned about your marriage but your spouse doesn’t want to attend counselling? You don’t need to make improving or even saving your marriage conditional on your spouse attending. You have 100% control over your half of the relationship and by learning how to become more effective in your behavior, your communication and your choices, you can create a change in your relationship even without your spouse attending 1 session.

Don’t make counselling another power struggle between you and your spouse. If you are really concerned about your marriage, you can make a difference and you don’t need your partner to be there. In fact, forcing them to come probably won’t work anyway. If they are not ready they are not ready, that doesn’t mean you can’t make things better by engaging in counselling services.

We often help women learn more effective way to engage their husband and by the wife changing her behavior, she ends up getting the reactions she wants from her partner. Once they see engaging them differently they often come voluntarily.

Counselling is a not a punishment or about who is at fault. Instead, it is about learning more effective ways so that both people can get their needs and wants met. There is no need to delay improving your marriage just because your spouse doesn’t want to come.
